How to Replace a Transaxle

Transaxle Replacement This guide requires the following supplies: Set of Sockets and Ratchet Safety Tip: Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes. 1 Using an open end wrench, disconnect the battery's negative cable. 2 Using the proper size ratchet and socket wrench, remove the air filter box assembly. 3 Using the proper size ratchet and socket wrench, remove the transaxle retaining bolts on the shift cable and bracket. 4 Using the proper size ratchet and socket wrench, remove the transaxle shift cable mounting bracket. 5 Disconnect all electrical connecters on AWD transaxle unit from the wiring harness. 6 Remove the transaxle oil dipstick and the dipstick tube. 7 Disconnect the transaxle throttle valve cable from the throttle valve link on the transaxle. 8 Remove any AWD transaxle unit fluid lines. 9 ...
