Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes. 1 Check transmission fluid level, fill if necessary. 2 Road test the vehicle. 3 Get transmission to shift through all gears. 4 Disconnect the negative battery cable. 5 Disconnect the transmission throttle linkage at the vehicle carburetor/throttle body. 6 Remove the oil filler tube. 7 Park the vehicle on a solid level surface to ensure that it does not roll or lean when raised. 8 Jack up the front of the vehicle. Park the vehicle on a solid level surface. Set the parking brake and chock the rear wheels. 2 Using a floor jack, lift up the front of your vehicle.
