How to Replace a Fan Shroud

Fan Shroud Replacement


Safety Tip:
Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes.

With the engine off and cold, open the hood and locate the fan shroud bolted to the radiator.

Inspect both the upper and lower fan shrouds for cracks, damage, or missing sections.

Gain access to the upper fan shroud mounting bolts.

Unbolt the upper fan shroud from the radiator.

Disconnect the upper fan shroud from the lower fan shroud by removing the tabs. Remove the upper fan shroud.

Gain access to the lower fan shroud mounting bolts from under the vehicle.

Unbolt the lower fan shroud from the radiator and remove from the engine compartment.

Install the new lower fan shroud in the engine compartment.

Tighten the lower fan shroud mounting bolts.

Install the new upper fan shroud into the lower fan shroud tabs.

Install upper fan shroud mounting bolts.

Start the engine and verify that the spinning fan does not contact the shroud.
