How to Replace a Parking Brake Switch

Parking Brake Switch Replacement

Safety Tip:Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes.

1
Locate your parking brake switch. If you have a foot style parking brake, the switch is under the dash mounted to or behind the lever. If you have a hand style parking brake, the switch is mounted under the center console assembly on or below the lever.
2
For hand style parking brake only, remove the center console to gain access to the parking brake lever and switch.
3
Unplug the electrical connector to the parking brake switch.
4
Un-clip the switch from the brake lever, or unbolt it from its mounting location. Install in reverse order of the removal.
